Browning dominates at Attamurra

SIMON Browning had the round of the day last Thursday and perhaps the round of his golfing career so far with an impressive 45 points and 77 off the stick at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

It was an impressive all-round display as he racked up just six bogeys and picked up a birdie on the final hole to finish six points clear of second.

John Miles was runner-up with 39 points, while Mark Foster, Peter Waters and Kevin Cook all scored 38 points.

Miles also claimed the nearest to pins on both the eighth and 16th holes.

He then capped them off with birdie twos on both holes.

The ball rundown was extended to 35 points and Tony Steen was the last winner.

Darren Keding had the round of the day on Saturday and scored 44 points to easily sweep B Grade.

Button was runner-up in B Grade on a count-back after four players all posted scores of 40.

Archie Milich scored 41 points to claim C Grade from Don Coulter and Graeme Armstrong after both players posted 38 points.

Coulter claimed second place on countback with his birdie on the last proving critical.

In A Grade, Craig Foster claimed first place and continuing his impressive run of form.

In a thrilling contest, Foster sealed the win on a count-back after Wayne Elliot and Ken Whitehead also posted 39 points, with Elliot taking second place.

The other big news on Saturday was a hole-in-one to popular member Dave Boyce on the difficult 16th hole.

Boyce always a happy face around the clubhouse and always ready to help out with club activities and fundraisers achieved every golfers dream after a smooth four-wood to the 150-metre par three.

The quarter and semi finals of the club championships were held on Sunday with some minor changes due to some players being unavailable.

In C Grade, Michael Rookas defeated Ian Ewart two up before defeating Max Tollner to reach the final.

Tollner had defeated Riley Parson earlier in the morning.

Chris Gabriel defeated Graham Thomas before going down to Archie Milich.

Milich and Rookas will battle it out for the for the C Grade Championship over 36 holes on March 26.

In B Grade, Damian Smith will meet Matt Bowering after Smith survived a bye in the morning before defeating Peter Collie in the afternoon.

Collie had beaten Simon Tulak in the morning.

Bowering defeated Hadyn Dow, while Pepe Pace defeated Nathan Taylor in the quarter-finals.

Bowering then claimed victory in the semi-final to book a place in the grand final.

In A reserve Zac Shanks defeated Archie Arch in the morning before downing David Anderson in the afternoon.

Wayne Elliot and Blake Schroder claimed wins in the morning to face-off in the semi-final where Elliot claimed victory.

Elliot will now meet Shanks in the final.

The Club Champion final will be decided between Joel Mann and six-time winner Darren Bilney.

Bilne defeated Joe Clements in the morning before meeting Sam Letizia in the afternoon.

Letizia defeated Andrew Stark in the morning before going down to Bilney.

Mann proved too good for Jim Leane in the morning and Darren Coxon in the afternoon as he booked his place in the final in style.

All finals will take place over 36 holes on March 26.
