THIRD placing and a personal time of 23.50 seconds in a heat of the Fast Forward (400 metres) at the previous week’s Tara Raceway meeting was enough to see Bungaloo Rachele through to last Thursday’s Category 2 prize money final.
While she was one of the fastest eight to come out of the five heats, Bungaloo Rachele obviously had not drawn too much attention to herself given that she was the rank outsider in the final at $62.
The black bitch looked anything but a roughie though, when coming out running from box five.
To the marked surprise of regular racegoers, she quickly opened up what surely had to be a winning break.
Chasing her first win since November, Bungaloo Rachele ended up with a half-length to spare over Jayville Zoe and Subzero Annie in a personal best time of 23.42 seconds.
By Fabregas out of Springvale Alysa, the winner is trained at Kongorong by John Little who races her in partnership with Liz Newberry and Kevin Mullan under the guise of the Bungaloo Syndicate.
Little also bred the October 20 litter which comprised three dogs and three bitches
Springvale Alysa, a daughter of Dyna Double One and Springvale Cool, was picked up by the syndicate for $2000 as a maiden after three starts at Angle Park.
Trained by Little, she went on to win 22 races.
“Five of the six in her first litter have gone on and won races but most of their wins have been in time-graded company which equates to only half the prize money paid at the Category 2 Sunday meetings,” Little said.
“While Bungaloo Rachele’s win last Thursday was at a time-graded meeting, the Fast Forward was a Category 2 event.
“I must say the extra prize money was really appreciated.”
The Bungaloo Syndicate now looks forward to Springvale Alysa’s second litter hitting the track.
In May 2022 she whelped a litter of six dogs and three bitches to On Fire, a winner of 40 races.
