Port MacDonnell takes home title

THE Port MacDonnell Bowling Club travelled to Kingston to compete in the Champion of Champions fours recently.

Tim Wrightson skippered his side which consisted of Wayne Dowdell, Keith Dowdell and Barrie Schmidt.

Port MacDonnell defeated Lucindale, Penola and Mount Gambier RSL to book a battle with Mount Gambier in the final.

Wrightson’s team triumphed over Mount Gambier with the final score 17-7 and took home the 2023 title.

Port MacDonnell travelled to Kingston to play in the Champion of Champions 4s

The Port MacDonnell triples team of Adam Wilson, Chris Richards and John Broadbent travelled to Lucindale where they had a bye in the first round.

The triples team proved to be just as successful as the fours team as they defeated Naracoorte RSL, Mount Gambier RSL and Penola 23-11 in the final.

The women’s triples team of Heather Richards, Judith Grosvenor and Suzzane Connell.

They travelled t Naracoorte and claimed wins of Millicent and Penola but lost 15-12 to Beachport in an even contest.

After Richards won the women’s singles, she will now represent the Port MacDonnell Bowling Club at the Se Region Champion of Champions at Naracoorte on May 6.

In the Friday Pennant, the Bay women went down to Mount Gambier RSL 36-57 and will now face Millicent Red at Lucindale for a spot in the grand final.

Port MacDonnell’s Division 3 side defeated Millicent in the Open Pennant by 13 shots to advance to the preliminary final against Mount Gambier RSL.
