There were 78 shooters who took part in the Lake Bonney 75-target handicap event recently.

On a course which consisted a few very technical targets, six shooters stood out with perfect rounds of 25/25.

Rolf Bugden, Chris Wright, Steve Groen, Tim Widdison, Mick Brennan and long-time Bonney shooter Warren Whitehead all claimed perfect scores as Whitehead took home his first 25 badge after more than 30 years of competitive shooting.

The Handicap Highgun was won by Lake Bonney sub-junior Liam Millard, who took out the top spot.

Widdison took home the AA Grade honours, ahead of Mark Fabris and Danny Bellinger.

Whitehead claimed first prize in A Grade, while Romain Devaud and Glen Crowe-Owen rounded out the podium.

Ian Vearing was the winner in B Grade, ahead of Kingston’s Rob Summers and Victoria’s Doug Cowland.

Richard Try claimed the C Grade victory, with Perry Gurney runner-up ahead of Edwin Edge.

In the Senior’s competition, Tony Sellars took home the victory, with Greg Kessegian runner-up and Trevor Whitehead in third.

Bob Jones was the winner in the Veteran’s category, with Rolf Bugden and Robert Simpson in second and third.

The Women’s competition went down to the wire and the win had to be settled on a count-back, where Sam Freeman claimed the victory, ahead of Bec Kober and Bernie Peters.

Declan Wright had an easy win in the juniors with no competition, while Jack Dyson claimed first prize in the sub-juniors, with Isla Gordon the runner-up.

A visit from the women from Royal Flying Doctor Service saw Lake Bonney Sporting Clays present a $500 donation to the charity after running a few novelty targets in the last few shoots.
