ONCE again it was the top teams who showed their dominance in Round 17 of Mount Gambier and District baseball.

With finals right around the corner winning form is good form and Tigers and Centrals have shown why they reside on top of the Division 1 leaderboard.

Tigers took on a gallant Federals on Friday night.

Despite steady improvement under the guidance of coach Matt Nichols, Federals was unable to match it with their heavyweight opponent.

At the end of the night Tigers claimed a four-run win, with plenty of positives from Federals.

Tigers welcomed back star player Brodie Foster just in time for finals and the former league medallist picked up from where he left off to lead the way with the bat.

Tigers’ Garth Ransom and Garret Ha joined Foster in fine batting form and helped their team push out to a sizeable lead.

On the mound Alex Reppin threw a great nine-inning game for the orange and black, with just one hit against his name.

Federals again showed a rapid improvement.

In a game where many thought it would be a one-sided affair proved, it proved to be a classic with a 5-1 run results.

In the Saturday afternoon game, Centrals proved too hot to handle for South Indians.

A huge 13-1 victory filled Centrals with confidence heading into the final few rounds.

South started well and even had bases loaded during the opening inning.

Scoring one runner from that scenario, that would be the only player to cross the home plate for the remainder of the match.
