Centrals the clear benchmark

FRIDAY night baseball saw Centrals comfortably account for South Indians under the lights of Blue Lake Sports Park.

Ethan Chuck was given the job for Centrals and he did not disappoint.

Centrals had control of the game from the start, with a four-run first innings followed by a three-run second.

South battled hard and the future stars in Declan Habner and Tarkyn Morale led from the front.

However, they just were not good enough on a night Centrals all-but locked up the minor premiership, with six weeks left to play in the home-and-away season.

The final score saw Centrals claim a 17-6 win, with Dylan Chuck player of the game for his four safe hits.

Saturday afternoon it was Tigers v Federals and the latter looked on song early.

Tigers coach Karl Ransom took the mound in what would be his 350th senior appearance in the orange and black.

Federals got the first run of the game and held Tigers, but Ransom found his grove on the mound.

After five innings it was still close, with Tigers ahead by just two runs.

However, that soon changed through Jesse Foster and Matt Thompson, who blew the game apart with a four-run sixth inning and and six-run seventh to make it a 13-2 ball game.

Ransom finished the match with 16 strikeouts on the hill, while Foster and Alex Reppin had three hits each.
