Big night at Penola

The challenge was real as riders looked to tame the bulls at the Penola Rodeo on Saturday night.

Sam Woodall claimed the Open Bull Ride win in Saturday night’s Penola Rodeo.

Woodall finished with a score of 86 to clinch the victory.

The event returned after several years in the wilderness, including a break for the coronavirus pandemic and attracted some quality riders and stock, with a big crowd flocking to McCorquindale Park keen to see the action back in town, despite the dusty conditions around the ring.

Cody Tyrell was in fine form, winning the Open Saddle Bronc and Open Bareback events.

Kade Griffiths defeated Sam Daning in the second division Saddle Bronc.

In a tight contest in the Ladies Barrel Race, Morgan McLean claimed the honours with a time of 14.317, from Hayley Rogers (14.612) and Bec Keogh (14.803).

the Junior Barrel Race went to Abby Llewellyn in a time of 15.751, from Lauren Baldachino (17.638) and Ebony Steele (18.587).

The Local Barrel Race attracted a bit of attention, with Storm Hogan clocking a time of 16.424, from Sarah Hinge (16.717), Brianna Jones (17.843) and Natasha Baldachino (18.021).
