THE Mount Gambier Lakers women will look to finish the minor rounds of the 2022-23 Country Basketball League season in style this weekend, with a double-header set down.

The Lakers travel to Horsham to face the Hornets on Saturday, then host the Portland Coasters at the Icehouse on Sunday.

Second position on the ladder is all-but locked up, with the Hornets down in fifth spot and would want to finish their season on a high.

That could spell some danger for the Lakers, especially considering the last time the two sides faced off the Hornets came out victorious, but by just three points.

It was a strong Lakers roster that hosted the Hornets, but they simply could not get the job done down the stretch, despite winning the final term by four points.

The Hornets did enough in the second and third quarters to hold on for the win, which the Lakers would hope to reverse this time around.

Against the Coasters back in Round 2, the Lakers were easy victors, with three strong quarters before backing off somewhat in the final stanza for a 24-point victory.

Some personnel have changed since that game but the Lakers still should have enough firepower to claim the win at home on Sunday.

From there it is a week off before playoffs begin, providing time for the Lakers to prepare for what will be a tough post-season.
