AFTER he sponsored Saturday’s stableford event, Jason Jackson took the outright win in the midweek event at the Blue Lake Golf Club with an outstanding 44 points.

Jackson started strongly with a brace of pars which netted him six points.

His round just kept getting stronger as he added another three pars to end the outward nine with 23 points.

It was an all-round consistent performance from Jackson as he picked up a birdie on the 10th hole and added another 21 points for an off-the-stick total of 80 strokes.

A count-back was needed to decide second and third as Colin Stratford and Tony Steen both finished on 40 points.

Stratford ultimately came out on top thanks to his 22 points on the back nine to just pip Steen.

Stratford had a strong round all day which was highlighted with a birdie on the eighth hole and he carried his form through to the back nine with three closing pars.

Steen had second place all to himself up until the 17th hole where some structural fatigue in his game manifested itself and he walked off with a one-point double bogey.

Despite being on the wrong side of a count-back, it was an impressive performance with his 38 and 22 points on the front nine.

Scores of 36 points or better were needed to score a ball prize.

Yogi Anderson continues to sharpen up his game after his knee replacement and impressed with 38 points as did Russell Lingham and Marc Dalton.

Dalton continues to edge back closer to a scratch handicap, his 33 on the front nine proving what he is capable of.

Ray Patching had splits of 18 and 19 points on his way to 37, the same score as Matt Davidson.
