NORTH Sportsman’s will look to continue its push for finals cricket in Round 8 of the Barber Shield when its hosts Mil Lel on Saturday at Marist Park.

In what has been a disrupted season for the Tigers, with three gams washed out, they have shown their quality of late with wins over Mil Lel and South Gambier.

When these sides met in Round 5, the Tigers claimed a 147-run win off the back of an impressive century from Nick McInerney.

Before the Christmas break, North showed its strength as it downed the Demons by 24 runs.

The hosts will look to McInerney, Isaac Mulraney, Elliott Fisher and Declan Kenny to make an impact.

McInerney and Fisher have led the way for the Tigers with the ball and taken 19 wickets between them.

The pair showed their class in Round 6 as they claimed three wickets each against a strong Penola outfit.

For Mil Lel, it has been a difficult campaign to say the least as it has yet to register a win.

Jack Miller, William Rowland and Logan Gibbs have been the key players this season but have been unable to guide their side to victory in the Barber Shield.

After a competitive performance with the bat in Round 5 and a strong performance with the ball in Round 6 which saw Mil Lel take seven wickets against West Gambier for just 58 runs, there is still a chance it can turn its season around.

However, with a hungry Tigers line-up eying off finals, the pressure will be on and North will head into this contest as firm favourites.
