DESPITE another unpredictable weather forecast, 26 women took their chances at the Blue Lake Golf Club for the stableford competition last week.

There were close results in both divisions especially in Division 1, which culminated in a countback to determine the second and third placings.

Mahoney played off a 28 handicap and signed for 35 points with splits of 15 and 20 in a performance which included just one wipe.

Her front-nine struggle only had two three-pointers but it was the back nine where she picked up five three-pointers to find herself back on track to take top spot on the podium.

Ronda Edwards claimed second place and Dianne Perryman was a close third with only a countback able to separate the two.

Both players scored 34 points but Edwards scored 18 on the back nine to steal second place.

Edwards is the current Division 1 Club Champion and is playing very consistent golf, with her card showing pars on the first, fourth, fifth and 15th holes with birdies on the 12th and 13th.

Perryman shone on the front-nine with 20 points in a performance which included a par on the first hole and a birdie on the second hole.

However, despite her strong start, she only managed 14 points on the inward nine.

It was a welcome return to the winner’s list for Dianne Allen in Division 2 as she posted a massive 40 points from splits of 20/20.

Allen played off 43 and used her handicap to gather her points from a four-pointer on the par three fifth hole and five three-pointers.

Lee Anderson also used her 45 handicap wisely and was a close second with 38 points, as she scored on every hole with splits of 20/18.

Jaynee Oberer played off 35 and was the third place-getter with 35 points.

Her round was highlighted with pars on the first and ninth holes and five three-pointers from splits of 16/18.

The pro-shot winner was Dianne Allen and the best front nine winner’s were Geraldine Scott and Allen.

Finally warm conditions made a welcome return on Saturday and 15 women faced the starter for a stroke competition with seven scoring under or even to their handicaps.

There was a three-way countback needed to decide the winner and it was Jorja Morale who came out on top.

Her score of 95/26/69 included pars on the first, ninth, 11th, 14th and 15th holes.

Her strong performance was somewhat marred with a few double-bogeys but she still managed to hang on for victory.

Geraldine Scott scored 94/25/69 to claim second place after the countback.

It was a mixed round for Scott with pars on the second, 14th and 15th holes but too much red ink on her card left her wondering what could have been.

Dianne Perryman would be pleased with her round of 88/19/69 with 43 gross on the front and 45 on the back.

Perryman picked up pars on the second, third, 12th and 16th holes and scored a birdie on the first.

Saturday’s pro-shot was won by Karen Panagopoulos.
