THE Mount Gambier Lakers men will enjoy another game at the Icehouse this weekend when they host the Horsham Hornets on Sunday.

The Hornets have struggled somewhat this Country Basketball League season, with just three wins from eight outings.

However, several of those losses were not big margins, suggesting they are up to the challenge.

Two recent games, against Colac and Terang, saw strong wins from the Hornets, but Terang bounced back last round with a six-point victory.

Mount Gambier heads into the game still undefeated after a big test against Millicent last weekend.

That saw the Lakers pushed to the final buzzer, with just seven points separating the two sides.

Coach Kane deWit led by example, with a 35-point game to ensure the Lakers kept their noses in front.

Their defence was also tested, with Millicent’s Frazer Bradley banging on 44 points in a losing side.

The Lakers ensured no one else scored more than 20 points, with the in-form Jackson Bowden reaching that mark.

If the Lakers can line up with a full roster at home, the Hornets will be hard-pressed to contain them and will be sent back across the border with no joy.
