Mount Gambier tournament success

THE Mount Gambier Lakers Junior Basketball Tournament was again a success over the weekend, with teams from country Victoria and South Australia providing plenty of entertainment, with close games across the board.

A new association in the competition – Riverland – made its presence felt, with three of the eight Division 1 titles on offer – Under 14 boys and girls, along with the Under 16 girls.

The cross-tow rivalry between Mount Gambier and Millicent was on display, with both associations tasting success.

Millicent claimed Division 1 success in Under 12 girls and Under 18 men’s competitions, while the Lakers claimed the Under 18 women and Under 16 boys Division 1 titles.

Bordertown and Keith chowed their continued junior development, with success in Division 2 and 3.

Bordertown secured the Division 2 titles in Under 14 and Under 16 girls, along with Under 14 and Under 18 boys, while Keith won Division 3 competitions in Under 16 and Under 18 boys.

Overall the tournament ran well, with multiple venues utilised to ensure a smooth competition.
