THE Mount Gambier Golf Club women held their handicap match-play semi-finals last week, with a couple of close matches.

Leanne Hunt claimed the win against Janina Morrison, but the 19th hole was needed to decide the outcome.

In the other match Lizzie Clements claimed the win over Jess Parsons in another tight contest.

Parsons clawed her way back into the contest, only to lose on the 18th hole.

Hunt will now face Clements in the final, with the former giving away a considerable amount of strokes and will have to bring her best game to pull off the win.

While the semi-finals were underway, 32 players enjoyed a stableford round.

Conditions were cool and windy, which reflected in some of the scores.

The ever-consistent Carol Davis won Division 1 with 36 points, followed closely by Helen McIntyre on 35.

In Division 2 Debbie Sheather had a win on 35 points, with Maxine McGregor next on 33.

Di ODonnell was the most accurate on the eighth hole and nearest to pin second-shot winners were Faye Mainwaring in A Grade and Maxine McGregor in C Grade.

A small field of six women braved the weather last Saturday to play a par round.

Morrison was not deterred as she carded a top score of 5-up to leave the rest of the field behind by seven shots.

Mainwaring and Helen Heaver were the next best with 2-down.

Morrison scored six pars and two birdies in her impressive round.

Wednesday will be a stableford round.
