THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on Saturday in fine conditions with the sun appearing for most of the day.
As a result, the shooters obtained some commendable high scores.
The opening event was the 50-target Balltrap Championship and shooters put in strong performances to kick-start the competition.
Jamie Dunn was in top form and shot 49/50 to win AA Grade from Wayne Hawker who finished with a score of 47/50.
Max Medhurst shot 49 targets to defeat Ken Atkin and win A Grade, while Steven Chambers easily won B Grade ahead of the second-placed Rodney Gilcrist.
In C Grade, Robert Atkinson out-shot James McKinnon to claim victory.
The 25-target Club Double-Barrel Championship event was shot with great accuracy and shoot-offs were needed to determine the winners.
With a perfect score of 35/35, Harry Brown showed off his accuracy to win AA Grade ahead of Dunn, who was runner-up with a score of 34/35.
Jesse Murrell shot a perfect 40/40 to claim the overall and A Grade victory from Andrew Hoare, in other grades, Brian Spring scored a perfect 25/25 to win B Grade, while Tom Weir narrowly won C Grade with a score of 24/25.
The 30-target Champion of Champions was shot enthusiastically with great accuracy as the competitors had to shoot Single Barrel, Double Barrel and Pointscore.
After a shoot-off, Hawker scored 73/75 to win AA Grade from Dunn 72/75.
Murrell outshot Atkin to win A Grade and after a shoot-off, Jordyn Brown claimed B Grade from Brian Spring.
In C Grade, Daniel Robinson shot 41/50 to win ahead of Robert Marcato on 34/50.
Robinson and Warren Lindner were the two latest members of the Black Crow Club.
The Black Crow Club gained 2 more recipients being Warren Lindner and Daniel Robinson
Dunn’s consistent performance across all three events was rewarded when he claimed the highgun with a strong score of 122/125.
The Mount Gambier Gun Club’s next competition will be held on December 10 which will be the club’s Christmas event.
