NORTH SPORTSMAN’S v MIL LEL

ROUND 6 of the South East Female Cricket League will see one game played in Mount Gambier when Mil Lel heads to Marist Park on Sunday.

The Tigers have been far and away the best team in the competition this season and have won all of their encounters, whilst Mil Lel on the other hand, has yet to claim a victory.

For Mil Lel, unfortunately it looks like a case of limiting the damage as North has been a class above.

When these two sides met at Frew Park in Round 3, the Tigers claimed an emphatic 96-run win.

Chelsea Gabriel, Fiona Young and Laura Chester all dominated with the bat, while Young and Chester also combined for four wickets.

Mil Lel will need to keep close tabs on Chester after she also scored an unbeaten 46 runs during the Tigers’ Round 5 win against Naracoorte last weekend.

Julie Smith was Mil Lel’s best performer when these sides last met and took 3/17.

Mil Lel will also look to Madeline Burley, Lydia Megaw and Victoria Radley, who have all put in strong performances this season.

Radley will be a player to watch with the bat and has scored 84 runs this season.

Ultimately, North will prove far too good in this clash and should claim its fifth win from as many games when it heads to the crease on Sunday.

BORDERTOWN v NARACOORTE

This weekend’s match of the round is between second and third on the ladder at Virgo Park.

Bordertown has won two of its three games, while Naracoorte has won one from three.

Back in Round 3, the clash which was meant to take place between these two sides was washed out, so as long as the rain stays away, this will be the first meeting between the teams this season.

Bordertown has been one of strongest teams with the bat and has scored an average of 113 runs per game.

Georgina Buick has been one of the standout performers for the hosts and has contributed 71 runs in three innings this season.

Naracoorte will also need to limit the impact of Hayley Twigden and Lily Kennett, who have both shown their class this season with the bat.

Bordertown will hope Ashlyn Knauerhase can continue her strong form with the ball after she took 3/6 in Round 5.

Naracoorte’s Charli Schroder, Sile Legoe and Lauren Smart will be players to watch.

Schroder has been consistent with the ball and has taken four wickets this season, while Legoe and Smart both made solid starts to their innings against the Tigers last weekend.

Looking at the games these two sides have played against Mil Lel and North, this game shapes itself up to be a close contest, however, there is still an air of uncertainty about this clash as it is the first meeting of the season between the pair.
