THE match of the round in Under 16 Limestone Coast Girls Football will be between South Gambier and North Gambier at Blue Lake Sports Park tonight.

Placed third and second on the ladder respectively after five rounds, the Demons have the home-ground advantage but will have to produce a standout performance to best the Tigers.

Back in Round 1 the Demons succumbed to their rival by 59 points, but they have amassed two wins and some confidence since then.

Fresh off the bye last week, South enters the clash off of a Round 4 win over reigning premier Kongorong.

North’s most recent success was also over the Hawks, with a 62-0 triumph in Round 5.

Luca Roulstone and Grace Altschwager were the Tigers to watch throughout that game, while in front of goal Claire Mitchell and Jenna Baron were in fine kicking form.

The pair finished with four and three goals respectively and will be ones to watch again as they attempt to back up their performances tonight.

For South, Jarrah Altschwager has been a regular among the best players, with four appearances from as many games.

She was named best on ground against the Hawks, while the likes of Sophie Wight, Isabella Morello and Lilah Rowe also come off notable Round 4 performances.

The Tigers are favoured to win but the Demons will be eager to prove again why they were 2021 grand finalists.

Following the South v North game will be a meeting between Kongorong and Hatherleigh.

Despite the Hawks’ reigning premier status, they have taken somewhat of a fall from grace this season and sit in fourth on the ladder with one win.

Hatherleigh on the other hand continues to impress in its debut season and sits undefeated on top of the premiership table.

The two teams met in Round 1 where the Eagles emerged 50-point victors, holding Kongorong to eight points.

The Hawks will be eager to redeem themselves from last week’s drubbing by the Tigers, where they were left scoreless for four quarters.

Evie Sealey, Sophie Longbottom, Lilly Gordon and Lacey Hannaford – to name a few – will look to push their team to success, but it remains a big ask.

The Eagles have a deep pool of talent and have impressed on all fronts, with few weak links across the ground.

Sebella Coghlan enters the match off a best-on-ground performance, while the likes of Hannah and Choe Bellinger and Tahnee Grosser also carry form into tonight.

Hatherleigh can be expected to win and further its grasp on top spot.
