FOLLOWING last week’s double-header first round, Limestone Coast Women’s Under 16 footballers will head to Kybybolite tonight for a fixture under lights.

North Gambier has the bye this week, while Hatherleigh will look to continue its dominance against South Gambier in the opener.

The young Eagles made their debut in the LCWFL last week and in the process blitzed both reigning premier Kongorong and Kybybolite to the tune of 50 and 74 points respectively.

The Demons will face a tough challenge tonight as they attempt to bounce back from a Round 1 loss to North.

Bailey Broome and Ella Guest performed well for South last week, while Sophie Wight was another standout and kicked her team’s solitary goal.

However, they will face the likes of Hatherleigh captain Niah Faulkner who booted a combined seven goals last week – six of which came against Kyby.

Edie Easterby was in dangerous form, as was Bella Gysbers and both Hannah and Chloe Bellinger, but it was two whole team performances which dealt the damage in the end.

The Eagles will be hot favourites to continue their winning ways and should push themselves a win clear on top of the ladder at this early stage of the season.

The second game for the night will see hosts Kybybolite lock horns with Kongorong.

The reigning champions will be eager to redeem themselves from last week’s losses to North and Hatherleigh.

Based on last season’s form they should be well placed to do so.

Captain Evie Sealey was a highlight in the first game of the season against the Tigers last round, while Kyla Gordon earned the best-on-ground honours against the Eagles.

Jordy Heraper and Sealey both found the big sticks on the day, but Kongorong will hope for an improved contribution up forward this week.

For Kyby it was Zara East who excelled despite the score margin.

She carries experience from the recent SANFL Youth Carnival where she represented the Glenelg Football Club and will be out for another sturdy performance tonight.

Jessica Cox snagged a couple of goals against Hatherleigh, while the likes of Ruby Sambell and Amelia Frick will hope to carry form into the bout.

The first game of the night between South and Hatherleigh is scheduled for a 6pm start, with Kongorong v Kybybolite to follow at 7.15pm.
