THE Blue Lake Knights face another tough challenge this weekend when they travel to Warrnambool to take on the Gunditjmara Bulls.

The Round 5 Limestone Coast Rugby League clash is all-but a must win for the Knights if they hope to taste finals action this season.

So far this season the Knights have been unable to secure a victory, with player shortages a major issue.

Last week they travelled to Warrnambool to take on the Raiders in a game which provided a real chance for victory.

However, with several players unable to make the trip due to other commitments, the Knights fronted up without a bench and struggled as a result.

Coach Lloyd Pearce-Raisin was still positive about the season, suggesting his roster was strong.

Two new players last round have added some extra depth to the squad, which should show as the season continues to unfold.

If all personnel can take to the park this weekend that may equate to a victory.

The Bulls have also found the going hard this season, apart from an opening-round victory over the Raiders.

However, they did put up a good fight against the ladder-leading Stawell Mounties last week and would hope to see some momentum continue from that result.

Pearce-Raising said this week his inexperienced roster was beginning to gel and in time should be up to the task against any opposition.

If it all comes together this weekend the Knights should be able to secure their first victory of the season.

It will certainly be a challenge in a sport which is beginning to make inroads into the predominantly Australian Rules region.

The games kicks off at 2.30pm, Eastern Daylight Savings time at Friendlies Society Park in Warrnambool.
