Waiting game continues for league decision

THE WAIT CONTINUES: The Casterton Sandford Football Club awaits a verdict on their application to join the Mid South Eastern Football League next season, with an update expected at the end of the month.

A DECISION looms for the fate of Limestone Coast football, with the outcome of the Casterton Sandford Football Club’s endeavour to change leagues on the horizon.

The Cats applied to leave the Western Border Football League in favour of a move to the Mid South Eastern competition for the 2023 season, which sparked a review of all three Limestone Coast Football and Netball Leagues.

They lodged the application to the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) back in August, following a members’ vote at the club, which then triggered a 60-day investigation period by the sport’s state body.

That review period has now ended, with the SANFL Community Football Committee meeting this week to report their findings.

However, SANFL advised The South Eastern Times this week there would not be an outcome just yet.

The committee’s recommendations are now to be referred to the SA Football Commission for consideration, which is not expected to happen until the end of the month.

As such there is little to report on the matter at this stage, with further updates to come from SANFL following the commission meeting.
