FOOTBALL action returns to the region when the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League Under 16 girls competition kicks off this Sunday.

A double-header round is on the cards, with four games to be played at Kongorong.

The home team will open proceedings, as the Hawks look to start their premiership defence on a positive note.

They can be expected to kick the year off with a win over North Gambier, having finished the 2022 season undefeated on their way to the premiership.

Game two will see Hatherleigh make its debut in the competition, with the Eagles’ first clash to be against Kybybolite.

Round 2 of the fixture has last season’s runner-up South Gambier up against North.

The Demons will be hungry for redemption this year, after they found themselves at Kongorong’s mercy in the 2022 decider.

The Hawks will then wrap up the day with a clash against Hatherleigh, which will test the latter in its first real taste of the competition.
