Jan Blockley took the ICN Bodybuilding Competition by storm recently as she claimed victory in her first ever time competing.

Blockley is a member of Millicent’s Ignition Fitness and said she was “blown away” to win the competition.

“It was my very first competition but I have been weight-training for two years now,” Blockley said.

“I didn’t go in expecting to win anything.”

She said she was just happy to have the confidence to get up on stage as it was a nerve-racking experience.

This competition was the culmination of over a year’s hard work.

“I have been training six days a week for probably 18 months,” Blockley said.

Along with training, she has had to ensure she eats the right food on a consistent basis.

Blockely said it was a “full-on” process to get her body in the right shape for the competition.

“Your body becomes like a science project,” she said.

“You can’t cheat and go in one of those competitions.”

Blockely said she had to be disciplined to stay on track in the lead-up to the competition.

“You’re not always motivated to go train for two hours a day but I think it is the discipline that keeps you going,” she said.

Blockley said she will look to compete in another competition next year but will continue to train in the meantime.

However, she won’t be pushing her body to the limit as she has done to get to this position.

“The body that you end up with when you go into those comps isn’t sustainable to live,” she said.
