THE Blue Lake Archers continued to explore alternative indoor events last weekend.

With target faces and bow sights already set up for the 25-metre indoor distance from the previous competition, it made for an easy choice to select a pair of Australian 25-metre indoor rounds for Friday night.

A consistent performance from Jeff Puckridge was a feature of the night and proved a tough act to beat.

Peter Donhardt had a great first round, securing a new Personal Best for the 25-metre range but fell two points shy of catching Puckridge for the win.

The second round produced an identical final score for Puckridge but the challengers fell back.

Ian Harris was the best of the rest but was 15 points off the pace Puckridge had set to win the second round.

Sunday the weather was more suitable for outdoor archery and a triple-distance Short Canberra was chosen as the round of the day that was destined to produce a batch of new personal bests.

Coming off a pair of wins Friday night, Puckridge was the in-form archer to beat, but Tamika Mullan and Kilsby made it clear he was going to have some serious opposition throughout the afternoon.

Kilsby slammed a series of Perfect 60 point ends during the event to finish the day with six noted on his score sheet for a new PB of 888 from a possible 900 points.

Mullan snared a slew of all gold ends, also claiming a new PB to keep the pressure on both Puckridge and Kilsby, while Donhardt added his second new PB of the weekend.

As the final tallies were adjusted for the handicap scores it was evident Puckridge had cleaned up for the weekend, his score was a PB and exceeded the benchmark 900 points by a whopping 18 points to give him a winning margin of 19 points over Kilsby, Mullan a close three points further back.

Indoor archery continues at the Blue Lake Gymnastics Club, Malseed Park Friday at 7pm, followed by outdoor archery at Corriedale Park from 12.30pm Sunday.
