THE Mount Gambier RSL Bowling Club had its official opening for the 2022/23 season on Saturday with a strong attendance from members who braved the poor conditions.

Bowlers battled inclement weather for the majority of the day but luckily the rain paused during the presentation and the bowling of the first bowl.

Last season’s club champions, Michael Fox and Di Adams kicked off the new season with the first bowls and opened the greens.

Vice-president Garry Burke ran the presentation and acknowledged members who had passed during the previous 12 months before new life-member Lyn Chirgwin rallied members to support the development of the club.

Following the presentation and the bowling of the first bowl, members retreated inside the club to enjoy afternoon tea, where Mount Gambier Bowling Club president Peter Clarke, was in attendance.

Members who reached veteran status were awarded with their badges to conclude the proceedings.
