Gymnasts take part in State Championships

MEMBERS of the Millicent Gymnastics Club were in action recently for the State Championships which were held in Adelaide.

Emily Lowndes competed in the Level 4 Under 11 competition against 24 gymnasts.

Lowndes finished 16th in the vault with a score of 8.3, 11th in the bars with a score of 8.475, 10th in the beam with a score of 8.65 and 14th on the floor with a score of 8.525.

Her performances meant she claimed 14th place overall with a total score of 33.95.

Lowndes improved on all her apparatuses except the floor and received the upgrading overall score.

Georgina Hassell and Harper Zalme both took part ion the Level 3 Under 9 championship which was contested by 44 gymnasts.

Zalme claimed 19th place in the vault with a score of 8.233, 14th in the bars with a score of 9.033, 37th in the beam competition with a score of 7.8 and 36th on the floor with a score of 8.175.

She finished 29th overall with a final score of 33.241.

Zalme joined the nine club on the bars with an impressive performance to be less than one mark off a perfect score.

She also improved her vault and bars scores.

Hassell finished 38th overall in the competition with a score of 31.891.

She was 39th in the vault competition with a score of 7.3, 27th on the bars with a score of 8.833, 36th on the beam with a score of 7.983 and 41st on the floor with a score of 7.775.

Hassell improved on her bars and beams scores.

Savannah Dickenson competed on Day 2 of the State Championships and took part in the Level 3 Under 8 Senior competition which was contested by 27 gymnasts.

Dickenson claimed 22nd place overall with a grand total of 31.25.

She scored 7.85 points in the vault competition to claim 20th place, she was 18th on the bars with a score of 8.325, 25th on the beam with a score of 7.725 and 21st on the floor with a score of 7.35.

Dickenson improved on her bars score in the State Championships.

Isobel Thompson also competed on Day 2 of the competition and took part in the Level 5 Under 12 Division, which was contested by 24 gymnasts.

Thompson put in a strong performance as she improved her scores on all of the apparatuses.

She claimed 17th place on the vault with a score of 8.6, 15th on the bars with a score of 8.45, 22nd in the beam competition with a score of 7.325 and 17th on the floor with a score of 8.175.

This gave Thompson a grand total of 32.55 points to claim 22nd place overall.

Her score was enough for her to be upgraded as she met the Level 5 standard.

Zoe Butler was in action on Day 2 and took part in the Level 3 open competition.

She finished 18th in the vault competition, with a score of 8.1, 23rd on the bars with a score of 6.725, 15th on the beam with a score of 7.6 and 11th on the floor with a score of 8.2.

Butler improved her score on the vault, bars and the floor.

She finished in 19th place with an overall score of 30.625.
