Top conditions produce impressive scores

THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on Saturday in fine conditions, with competitors able to obtain commendable high scores.

The opening event was the O G Roberts & Co 25 target Single Barrel Championship, shot with enthusiasm as the shooters were eager to win their grades.

Tom Jenkins won AA Grade with a score of 24/25, from Warren Lindner (27/29), while Greg Kessegian (22/25) won A Grade from Tom Clark (30/34).

Dale Robertson (24/26) just edged out Stuart Bowd (23/26) to win B Grade and Robert Marcato (25/28) just out-shot Peter Klieve (24/28) to win C Grade.

The Bucik Tyrepower 25 target Pointscore Championship event was shot with great accuracy and again shootoff’s were needed.

Dougal Simson was in fine form and after an extensive shoot-off with a top score of 105/105 he won AA Grade narrowly from Wayne Hawker (104/105).

Andrew Hoare (74/75) won A Grade from Matthew Robinson (79/81), Peter Winser (69/75) took B Grade from Dale Robertson (71/81) and Reece Fleming (70/75) won C Grade from Nicola Dunn (67/75).

The Baxter Hire 25 target Club Continental Championship was shot enthusiastically with great accuracy as five competitors shot perfect scores.

Matthew Robinson shot a perfect 51/51 to show his prowess and claimed the overall honours.

Mick Little (34/34) won AA Grade from Barry Sims (33/34), while Matthew Robinson (51/51) just edged out Andrew Jenkins (50/51) to win A Grade.

Stuart Bowd (24/25) took B Grade from Dale Robertson (28/31) and Daniel Robinson (24/25) just won C Grade from Frank Kentish (23/25).

The Black Crow Club gained three more recipients, with Daniel Robinson, Matthew Robinson and Stuart Bowd all receiving the honour.

The South East Autotrade Highgun award over the three events was won by Dougal Simson with a top score of 171/175 after a shoot off with Gavin Height.

The next competition will be held on Sunday, September 18 – The Eastern Zone Carnival.
