Sara Gray - MSENA president

On behalf of the Mid South East Netball Association, I would like to welcome, players, coaches, umpires, life members and supporters to Kalangadoo for grand final day this Saturday.

As another season draws to a close it is time to reflect on the season that was.

Another year of challenges and achievements both on and off the court, made all the more difficult by the issues brought about by Covid-19.

Thank you to clubs and players for being adaptive to the ever-changing landscape which is part of living through a worldwide pandemic.

In my eighth year as president I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Mid South East Netball executive, a group of hard-working individuals who came together as a team for the good of netball in the Family League.

To Bec Scanlon, Leah Puiatti, Megan Bowering, Kim Ross, Pauline Mulraney, Karen Pulmer and Georgia Gray, I thank you for your time and commitment to MSE netball.

Thanks also to Peter Mitchell and the football executive, it has certainly been an interesting 12 months.

Over the June long weekend we had four sides represent Mid South East Netball at the Country Championships and this year the MSEFL came on board as major sponsor.

Congratulations to Annie Hunter and Emma Gould on making the Team of the Year.

The seniors played off in the A Grade grand final against KNTNA and unfortunately did not come away with the title.

However, finishing second in the state out of 11 associations is a great achievement.

All junior sides made finals which is a great result and something to be super proud of.

A huge thank you goes to coaches and managers who helped make it happen.

As always lasting friendships were made and plans are already in motion for 2023.

I encourage everyone to put themselves forward for an opportunity to represent our association.

We are fortunate through the hard work of Bec Scanlon to be able to offer umpire C badging within our association and congratulations to Brydie McPherson, Lonny Peel, Kim Ross, Fiona Telfer and Naomi Stevens who achieved this in 2022.

We have a good spread of badged umpires through our association and I encourage everyone to pick up a whistle and give it a go.

Recently we celebrated the achievements of our netballers and I would like to congratulate all of our best and fairest winners.

Thank you to our sponsors – Mid South Eastern Football League, South East Property Sales and Management, One Forty One, Somerset Hotel, Xpress Signs, Frank Brennan Consulting Services, 3MP, In2Trophies, KCA, OG Roberts, She’s Apples and Bakers Delight.

Thanks also to our trophy and pennant donors, Jenny Waugh, Kirsty Johnson, Maureen Ey, Fiona Wilson, Necia Evans, Carmel Chapman, Raelene Smith and the Serle Family.

We thank you for your continued support.

Thank you to the media for their continued support and to publicity officer Georgia Gray who worked alongside clubs to get information to the media and on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

In 2022 the Mid South East South East Property Sales and Management Team of the Year is once again made up of players who have been nominated by their peers.

Congratulations to the following players.

Goals: Malinda Markiewicz (Glencoe), Emma Gould (Tantanoola), Abbey Duncan (Kalangadoo).

Centre: Jayde Peacock (Kalangadoo), Lucy Perkins (Robe), Laura Schultz (Mt Burr), Annie Hunter (Robe).

Defence: Sarah Edwards (Glencoe), Emma Grant (Robe), Madi Haggett (Mount Burr).

Coach: Kim Austin (Robe).

In closing I would like to thank the nine clubs who make up the Mid South East Netball Association.

I enjoy being your president and building relationships with you all.

As always I thank my family, Dwayne, Georgia and Meg, all of whom know more about the pros and cons of running a netball association than they really want to.

Their continued support allows me to continue doing a role I love.

Good luck to all teams playing on Saturday and I look forward to seeing you all in Mid South East Netball in 2023.
