Best and fairest to be crowned

Kalangadoo's Jayde Peacock will be one to watch at this weekend's best and fairest awards.

The winner of the A Grade Mid Soth East Netball best and fairest will be crowned at the Millicent Civic and Arts Centre this Sunday.

With such a tight competition, the winner could come from a number of clubs.

Kalangadoo has not had the dominant season it has had in recent years but goal attack Abbey Duncan, centre Jayde Peacock and defender Lauren Kain should all poll well.

Second-placed Glencoe had an even spread of players and may steal votes from each other, playing coach Sarah Edwards has had a stellar season in defence and Malinda Markiewicz has been a focal point in the Murphies goal circle.

The third-placed Roosters has been consistent this year and goal attack Tori Gluyas would have polled well until side-lined with an ankle injury.

Annie Hunter in centre is a past winner and should poll consistently.

Emma Gould has had another great year for the Tigers in goals and should be among the top five on Sunday.

Mount Burr has impressed despite finishing fifth with Laura Schultz, Madi Haggett and Ebony Clark all expected to feature amongst the votes.

The bottom four sides traditionally do not provide the winner but do not rule out Tegan Telfer and Lara MacGregor from Hatherleigh.

Port MacDonnnel’s Alana Winter has had an impressive season in defence and should also not be ruled out.
