KALANGADOO showed why it finished the Mid South East netball minor rounds on top of the ladder, with a strong 29-goal win over Hatherleigh.

The match started at high intensity, with Kalangadoo the first team to settle and take control.

Maddi Redman and Rosie Nettle worked overtime for the Eagles, with the Kalangadoo defence not giving them any second opportunities.

Tegan Telfer and Erin Watson worked hard to find the space in the mid-court, with Kalangadoo making them work hard for every ball.

Kalangadoo led at the first break 20 to 8 to set the scene.

The second quarter went much the same, with Hatherleigh tightening up its defence and giving its goalies more opportunities.

But it was not enough to keep up with the fast-paced Kalangadoo side, with the halftime score ending up at 32-17.

Hatherleigh made just one change at the main break, with Maddie Redman heading back to GS and Rosie Nettle into to GA.

Kalangadoo’s line-up remained unchanged and they continued to convert, adding scoreboard pressure going into the final break with a 19-7 quarter.

Hatherleigh maintained its work rate for the final quarter but was unable to reduce the margin.

Lara MacGregor and Demi Vanderhorst contested every possession and got their hands to some rebounds to give their side some more scoring opportunities, but the Magpies forged ahead with the final margin of 29 goals.

Best players for the victors were Kori Collins and Reanna Wetherall, while Hatherleigh’s best were Erin Watson and Rosie Nettle.
