FORMER Millicent footballer Ella Little received the dream news she would join an AFLW roster last week.

She has been picked up by the Melbourne Football Club ahead of the 2022 AFLW season, as a replacement for midfielder Eliza McNamara, who will be sidelined with a back injury this season.

The call up came after Little impressed playing for Woodville-West Torrens in the AFLW National Championships.

She has been training with the Adelaide Crows as a train-on player since being overlooked in the draft earlier this year, but remained on the Demons’ radar.

The Melbourne Football Club posted the moment Little was told she would play for the club on social media.

It happened over a zoom call, with none other than Daisy Pearce delivering the news.

Little was elated to find out she would be gearing up for an AFLW season.

“I’m stoked,” she said during the call.

“I appreciate it guys, you have no idea, my heart is racing.”

Little’s career started as a junior playing with the boys at the Mount Burr Football Club, before she made the shift to Millicent.

She made the permanent move to Adelaide last year and was selected in the South Australia state side.

Her commitment to the sport has now been rewarded with the ultimate opportunity to play football at its highest level.
