Pratt wins Highgun

THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on Saturday in fine conditions with the sun shining for most of the day.

Due to these favourable conditions, shooters obtained impressively high scores.

The first event was the 25 Target Club Balltrap Championship.

This competition was shot with accuracy as the shooters were eager to win their grades.

Andrew Hoare claimed a narrow win in AA Grade with a score of 24/25, ahead of Jeremy Kent on 23/25.

Gavin Height scored 30/31 to claim the Overall and A Grade competition.

Darren Beyer was runner-up with a score of 28/30.

Wally Wombwell scored 24/25 to win B Grade ahead of Tom Clark.

Gezenius Blok claimed the final competition ahead of Mark Copping.

The 25 Target Double Barrel Championship event was shot with impressive accuracy as eight competitors shot perfect scores.

As a result, a shoot-off was needed to decide AA Grade.

Wayne Hawker was in fine form and claimed victory with a remarkable score of 98/98.

Jamie Dunn was unfortunate to miss out on the victory with a score of 97/98.

Rodney Gilcrist scored a perfect 27/27 to win A Grade ahead of Hoare.

Mick Rudd scored 24/25 to just edge out James McKinnon in B grade, while Darren Blok was the winner in C Grade, ahead of Wombwell.

The final event of the monthly competition, was the 25pr Club Double Rise Championship.

The competition was shot enthusiastically and Kent claimed the AA Grade with an impressive score of 41/50.

Pratt showed his prowess to seal the Overall and A Grade win with a score of 44/50.

Hawker scored 42/50 to take the B Grade victory, ahead of Tom Clark.

Wombwell’s impressive form continued with a victory in C Grade as he scored 41/50, Nicola Dunn was runner-up with a score of 31/50.

The Highgun award over the three events was won by Pratt, with an overall score of 104/116 after a shoot-off with Beyer.

The Mount Gambier Gun Club will hold its next event on September 10.
