Davis wins at Attamurra

LAST Wednesday, 29 women took to a challenging course on a very cold but clear day to compete in the fourth round of the Hudson Plumbing Stableford competition at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

Carol Davis claimed the Division 1 victory with 35 points.

Davis scored 16 points on the front nine and then backed it up with an impressive 19 points on the back nine to claim the win on a count-back.

Kathy Ewer narrowly missed out on the win with an impressive round.

Ewer’s card was the complete opposite to Davis, with 19 points on the front nine and then 16 on the back.

Davis scored four points on the difficult par four 13th hole but wiped-out on the par five 17th.

Linda Boylan took out the honours for Division 2 with 35 points.

Boylan scored 16 points on the front nine and then scored 19 on the back nine.

It was an consistent performance from Boylan, who scored four points on the seventh hole and had an unblemished scorecard with three three-pointers.

Jill Johnson was runner-up in Division 2 launched out of the blocks to score a superb 22 points on the front nine, which included 13 points in the space of four holes.

However, the long back nine was Johnson’s undoing and she only managed to score 11 points to finish two points behind Boylan.

Faye Mainwaring, Jan Shanahan, Lizzie Clements, Lois Harvey and Jess Parsons were the ball-rundown winners.

Helen McIntyre claimed the pro-shot on the par three eighth hole.

Specialty prizes for the best back nine went to A Grade’s Davis, Kate McCormick in B Grade and Lizzie Boylan in C Grade.

There were 18 women who played a stableford competition on Saturday, in cool but fine weather.

Sue Coulter claimed the win with 35 points.

She recorded 19 points on the front nine and 16 on the back nine, in a round which included pars on the sixth, ninth and 17th holes.

Lois Harvey was runner-up with 33 points in a consistent performance across both nines.

Harvey scored 17 points on the front nine and then 16 points on the inward nine.
