Hawker shoots with hawk-eyed accuracy

The Mount Gambier Gun Club held its Monthly competition on Saturday in fine conditions as the sun shined for most of the day, which meant the shooter were able to obtain impressive scores.

The opening event was the Shadforth Financial Group 25 tgt Club Pointscore Championship, this competition was shot with accuracy as the shooters were eager to win their grades.

Warren Lindner was in top form and shot the only perfect 75/75 to win the overall and AA Grade from Wayne Hawker 92/93.

Andrew Hoare narrowly defeated Steve Chambers to claim the A Grade title with a score of 77/84.

Sue Crane shot 76/81, to win B Grade, ahead of runner-up Malcom McGrice who finished with a score of 73/81.

Ricki Kelly was the winner in C Grade with a score of 69/75, while Brian Case claimed second place with 64/75.

The 75 tgt Eastern Zone Champion of Champions event was enthusiastically shot with impressive accuracy.

A shoot-off was needed to decide AA Grade and Hawker came out on top with a score of 142/150, ahead of Gavin Height, who shot 141/150.

Hoare made it back-to-back A Grade wins with a score of 116/125, ahead of Greg Kessegian, who shot 104 targets out of 125.

Crane won B Grade again as she shot 110/125, ahead of Andrew Jenkins with 102/110.

James McKinnon won C grade with a score of 105/125, while Robert Marcato with 94/125.

The South East Autotrade Highgun award over the two events was won by hawker with an impressive final score of 263/272.

The next competition will be held on August 13.
