The Hawks spread their wings to claim an emphatic victory at Nangwarry on Saturday.

The clash between eighth and ninth on the ladder was expected to be a close contest with the Saints hungry for a second win after their triumphant drought-breaking efforts just a few weeks earlier against Tantanoola.

However, Kongorong flew out of the blocks as it kicked five unanswered goals in the first quarter.

Both sides kicked two majors in the second term and the Hawks went into the main break with a commanding 51-15 lead.

The third quarter was a goal-fest as Kongorong and Nangwarry both added six majors to begin the second half.

The Hawks quashed any chances of a late fightback from the Saints when they stormed home to kick seven goals without response and claimed an 84-point victory.

Andrew Hyland and Jarrod Ryan both kicked five goals, while Kongorong’s Scott Fleming was strong in the Hawks’ forward line as he contested pack marks and kicked four majors.

Corben O’Dea made his presence felt throughout the contest and was named best on ground.

Kongorong’s third win of the season moves it up to seventh on the ladder with just five rounds of until finals.
