A second-quarter burst from Robe helped set up its win over Tantanoola in Round 11 of Mid South East football on Saturday.

The Roosters came into the game well rested after a bye, while the Tigers were licking their wounds after a loss to Nangwarry the week before.

The opening term suggested a tight contest, with Robe ahead by a solitary point.

However, it was the second quarter where the Roosters began to find their feet, banging on four major scores to the Tigers’ two.

That put a bit of distance between the two sides on the scoreboard but neither could make much impact in the third.

Robe managed one major score to open the margin slightly but as the final quarter approached, it was anyone’s game.

Scoring returned for both sides as the game wound down but it was Robe that made the most of it, with five majors to the Tigers’ three to claim a hard-fought victory.

Goals were spread through the Robe camp, with eight individual goal scores, led by Kaden Woodward with four and Tom Williams with two.

Jack Dawe was a shining light for Tantanoola, with three goals to his name.
