East Gambier v North Gambier

THE Western Border netball match of the round will see reigning premier East Gambier host North Gambier.

Both have struggled to find momentum in 2022 thanks to injury and player unavailability.

The season clock is ticking and they join South Gambier in a fight for the final two places in the top four.

North shooter Caroline Wakefield is in career-best form and misses a handful of goals at worst each week.

The Bulldogs will be all too aware they have to limit how often she gets ball in hand.

Bo Creek and Morgan Amy are strong in the air and will look to disrupt those aerial feeds entering the East defence.

The pressure from Tyne Bosko, Emily Hunter and Tarsh McCallum out the front will also be pivotal in denying Wakefield easy ball.

At the other end, Tigers Mel Renko and Zahra Crough are still building as a defensive combination.

They will look to shut down the space for Sarah Lock and Amryn Bosko, who teamed up last weekend for the first time since the early rounds.

Amryn Bosko was back to her accurate best last round and Lock will be better for the run after a long lay off due to injury.

This match looms as a tight defensive struggle with both teams knowing the importance of stopping the ball before it reaches the opposition shooting circle.

It will be a close contest but Wakefield’s form should tip the scales in the Tigers’ favour.
