Time for a second go

Hatherleigh will need to curb the influence of Mount Burr's Laura Schultz when the two sides face off on Saturday.

Glencoe v Kalangadoo

Mid South East netball teams prepare to face each other for the second time this year when Round 10 kicks off on Saturday.

First up, Glencoe hosts Kalangadoo in what is expected to be the match of the round.

Kalangadoo’s line up has changed since the last time the two teams met back in Round 1 when Glencoe won by 27 goals.

Abbey Duncan is combining well with youngster Kori Collins in the goal circle and is fed well by Jayde Peacock and Kirsty Egan.

For Glencoe, Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen will need to be at the top of their defensive game as opportunities for rebound will be limited.

At the other end of the court, the Murphies have many goalie options with any of the following able to combine well – Jenna Paproth, Chantelle Cocks and Malinda Markiewicz. This game will go down to the wire and the result could go either way, with the margin sure to be much closer this time around.

Hatherleigh v Mount Burr

Hatherleigh takes on Mount Burr in what is set to be another close contest, with only three goals separating the sides in Round 1.

Hatherleigh has taken the time to settle their line up, with Maddie Pulmer and Abby Wight combining well in the goal circle and allowing Maddie Redman to play back in her more familiar role of defence.

Meg Fennell will have an interesting tussle with Chelsea Galpin, who returns to the court after sustaining an ankle injury against Kongorong.

Hatherleigh may utilise Tegan Telfer or Erin Watson in centre to curb Laura Schultz’s influence on the game.

Hatherleigh also has many options in the defensive circle and utilise that to their advantage.

The team whose goalies settle first will come away with the win.

Nangwarry v Tantanoola

Nangwarry will look to reduce the margin from the last time they faced Tantanoola.

Emma Gould’s confidence would be high after selection in the 2022 Country Championships senior team of the year.

Nangwarry will need to shut her down if they are to achieve that goal.

However, with Tantanoola having one of the more settled sides in the A Grade competition, Nangwarry may struggle to do this.

For the Tigers, defenders Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe will limit opportunities to Nangwarry’s Tahlia Wilson and Ange Pratt, who are both accurate in the circle.

The Saints’ Hayley Burner will have a good tussle through the centre with Casey Walker, with both players having good drive to the ball and pressure down the court.

Nangwarry will fight hard but the Tigers will come away with the win.

Port MacDonnell v Kongorong

Kongorong is on the improve and will take the game right up to Port MacDonnell down at the Bay.

With her height and accuracy, Tilah Buckingham has caused headaches for defenders across the association.

Kirby Carrison will be tasked with shutting Buckingham down.

However Port MacDonnell is also more settled than in Round 1, with Toni Gilmore’s accuracy and experience giving her team confidence.

Sarah Lucas is consistent at the defensive end for the Hawks and paired with Emily Lightbody’s height, could cause upsets for Port MacDonnell’s Gilmore and Brooke Williams.

Liza Mutch has been a good pick up for the Demons, with her fitness and speed through the mid court.

Port MacDonnell’s experience should get them over the line.
