MATTHEW Pritchard claimed a strong victory in the Blue Lake Bar Bistro stroke round on Saturday.

Pritchard dominated the 84-players field with an impressive 83/18/65.

His round started slow, with a 45 off the front nine but he turned that around on the back nine with a 38 off the stick.

Young gun Callum Harvey claimed the A Grade honours with a 78/11/67.

Harvey has been looking for a break out performance, which was highlighted with a one-over-par back nine 36.

Visiting member of Port MacDonnell, Ben Wilson came in second with an 81/12/69, while the ever-consistent Ian Bown hit an impressive 76/7/69.

B Grade winner Roger Gale with an 84/15/69 had a slow start on front nine, where his putting cost him greatly, resulting in several double-bogeys.

However, Gale found form on the back nine thanks to some caddying advice from Anthony Williams, whose comment “short putts don’t go in” helped him score a 39.

In second place, Rodney Heinrich – who has hit the leaderboard regularly lately – had consistent splits of 40/42 to finish 82/13/69.

Wayne Dunford claimed third place with an 83/13/70.

Although he did not have any pars on the front nine, he finished with six pars on the back for a 38.

Brenton Hodge claimed C Grade with a score of 94/27/67, three shots clear of second place David McKenzie whose 47 on both nines gave him a 94/27/67, while the ever-reliable club handicapper Geoff Munt rounded out the podium with 94/24/73.

Ball Winners from the day were Graham Burke, Marc Dalton, Matt Roscow, Keith Ransom, David Gould, Andrew Close, Josh Ransom, Martin Markiewicz, Anthony Riddoch, David Whitehead, Jim Ferrazzola and Colin Ferguson.

Only the A Grade nearest to pin was hit, with Anthony Riddoch claiming the honours.

Pro shot winners were Michael Watts on the fifth hole and Brett Lewis on the 16th.

Callum Harvey came in with the least putts and the longest drive winners were Bruce Morale in A Grade, Andrew Close in B Grade and Richard Neale in C Grade.

The women’s stroke round was headline by president Beryl Mahoney, whose 101/30/71 was enough to claim the honours ahead of second-placed women’s captain Helen Myers with 92/19/73.

Helen Stratford rounded out the podium with 95/20/75.
