ACCURACY proved the difference in the end when North Gambier emerged victorious over South Gambier at Blue Lake Sports Park.

The Tigers avenged their Anzac Day loss with an eight-goal win, with Caroline Davey in imposing form.

She netted 44 from 45 for the day, with her only miss in the early stages of the final quarter.

Youngster Macey Griffith also showed great composure to convert 18 from 22.

South had the better of the opening quarter with its new-look defensive line of Ellie Bouchier and Imogen Walker creating plenty of turnover ball.

However, some unforced errors in transition and inaccurate finishing in the shooting circle – combined with North’s perfect shooting record for the quarter – had the home side only one goal clear at the first change.

Lara Munro was forced from the court with the blood rule early in the second.

That forced a quick reshuffle for the Demons as Walker moved to goals and Ellie Bouchier combined with mother Brandi to try and rattle the Tigers’ front line.

It was a goal-for-goal quarter which set up a tense second half, where Munro returned to the court and Walker moved back to the defensive end.

Little separated the two sides gain as North’s Mel Renko picked up turnover ball time and time again, while Bouchier and Walker earned some critical touches for South.

At three quarter time the Tigers held a three-goal lead.

On Anzac Day it was the Demons who were composed until the end but this time round it was the Tigers who built on their lead.

Renko kept picking up interceptions, Brianna Walters used her speed to great effect and fed Wakefield with precision.

The North shooting duo converting 17 from 19 and the scoreboard remained in the Tigers’ favour at the whistle.

Munro remains the focal point of the South shooting circle, while Alyssa Duncan was instrumental in transition and set up the attacking third play.
