THE annual Shirley Rymill Foursomes event was contested by 42 women last Wednesday at the Mount Gambier Golf Course.

The event is awarded to the team with the best nett score on the day.

Heather Chapman and Maureen Sims were a strong combination and played straight down the fairway consistently.

The pair claimed the win with a score of 69.5 nett.

It was a slow start for Chapman and Sims as they were challenged on the 14th and 15th holes but they rallied on and finished the front nine in steady fashion.

They also claimed the pro-shot on the eighth hole.

Helen McIntyre and Lyn Hudson were runners-up with a score of 71.5 nett.

For the third time in five years, sisters Faye Mainwaring and Helen Gregory combined to win the club’s Foursomes Championship with an impressive 89 off the stick.

It was a consistent performance from the sisters as they scored two pars on the front nine and four pars on the back nine.

Mainwaring and Gregory will now compete in the Foursomes Champions of Champions against other South Eastern Clubs later in the year.

Leanne Hunt and Sue Coulter were runners-up only one shot behind with a score of 90.

Kerry Pedlar and Janina Morrison claimed the combined second shot on the 17th hole.

A small field of fourteen women competed in a stableford competition and Di O’Donnell claimed the win with 34 points.

Maxine McGregor was runner up with 33 points.

Gemma Winterborn was the only ball winner with 33 points and also claimed the pro-shot on the eighth hole.

Helen Gregory was the nearest-to-pin on the 16th hole.
