South Gambier v North Gambier

SOUTH Gambier had a breakthrough victory over North Gambier on Anzac Day and the Demons know the Tigers will be out for retribution.

The Demons enter the clash buoyed by another drought-breaking victory over East Gambier – their first in seven seasons.

They know they will need to be careful with ball in hand, while it will be as much about the defensive effort all over the court.

If North feeders Brianna Walters and Ash Kalantarian are not put under pressure they will deliver plenty of ball to Macey Griffith and Caroline Wakefield.

The job of working the mid court for South will fall to Megan Reid, Ruby Richter and Tully McShane, with all three coming off solid Round 7 performances.

The North defensive line of Zahra Crough-Heaton and Mel Renko is starting to develop some chemistry.

As such South goalers Alyssa Duncan and Lara Munro will need to work overtime to find space and finish with the accuracy they showed last weekend.

It looms as another arm wrestle and it will be the team which limits their errors and looks after the ball who takes the points.

Their Round 3 clash was a quality affair but there is no doubt both teams will look to produce less errors, both forced and unforced, as they look to secure a top-four finish.
