WEST 3 d STRIKERS 0

WEST continued its dominance in the Lower South East Hockey Association with a solid win over Strikers last week.

Angela Broad continued her impressive form as she scored two goals to give her side the perfect start to the game.

The Strikers controlled passages of play in the second quarter and had opportunities to score but were unable to convert.

West linked up well and were threatening in attack, but Kate Fabian continued to make life difficult for her opponents in goals as she made a number of saves for Strikers.

The lead was extended to three when Dana Jones put the icing on the cake with a goal from the top of the circle.

REDBACKS 3 d TIGERS 0

Redbacks continued its strong start to the season with a comfortable win over Tigers.

There were errors from the Redbacks in the first quarter which gave the Tigers the chance to attack regularly.

Ashleigh Doll made a couple of strong runs forward, but the rock-solid Redbacks defence were able to shut her down and prevent any goals from being scored.

Redbacks began to control the game in the second quarter, but were unable to break the deadlock before the main break.

The third quarter proved decisive for Redbacks, with three goals scored to begin the second half.

Tigers were unable to withstand the pressure form the Redbacks and it was Meg Beck who breached the Tigers’ defence to open the scoring.

Anna Mitchell and Steph Wighton were strong in the midfield and the strong passing from the midfield resulted in goals for Eliza Beck and Lexi Merrett.

DIVISION 1 MEN

STRIKERS 4 d WEST 1

It was a grand final rematch to begin Round 6 with as West took on Strikers.

The first quarter was a tight affair with impressive ball movement from both teams.

Strikers were rewarded for their early pressure as they scored tow early goals to put West on the back foot.

West stepped up their game in the second quarter and Brayden Burston gave his side a chance in the game as he scored a drag-flick goal to reduce the deficit.

However, West was unable to find the equalising goal as the Strikers scored two more goals to seal victory.

TIGERS 3 d REDBACKS 1

The Tigers juggernaut rolled on as its winning streak continued on Sunday when they defeated Redbacks in a close encounter.

Tigers opened the scoring when Greg Doll made an quick pass to Aaron Menglar who used his back stick to tomahawk a goal into the top-right corner.

The Redbacks made the most of some poor defending from the Tigers to equalise through Jarrod Sanders.

Tigers dominated possession throughout the second quarter and had multiple penalty corner opportunities that they were unable to convert.

However, Tigers eventually hit the lead again when a well weighted ball into the circle from Luke Hunter was deflected in by Menglar.

Redbacks had a golden opportunity to score its second goal of the game in the third quarter, but the shot went across the face of the goals.

The side spent the majority of the games in defence against the relentless attack from the Tigers.

Aaron Barry was solid at fullback and was well-supported by Angus Fittler in the middle.

Trystan Miller made some excellent tackles and created opportunities going forward.

Dylan Montgomery denied the Redbacks an equaliser with a goal-line save.

The Tigers put the game to bed when Blake McKee scored off a short corner in the final minute.
