Beyer claims overall win

THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition recently in sunny conditions.

The shooters had to contend with strong gusts of wind but there were still commendable scores obtained.

The opening event was the Liz and Tom Rymill 25 tgt Club Skeet Championship.

Kevin Mules claimed the overall and A Grade victory with a score of 34/35.

Greg Kessegian finished second with a score of 33/35.

Tristan McKinnon took out the B grade competition with 24/25, ahead of Gavin Height on 21/25.

C grade went to Peter Winser, who the win over Andrew Hoare.

The Carlin & Gazzard 25 tgt Club Single Barrel Championship produced strong performances from the Gun Club.

Height won the overall and AA Grade competition with a perfect score of 25/25.

Max Medhurst was a close second with a score of 24/25.

Hoare won the A Grade Championship on 23/25, ahead of Steve Chambers who shot 22 targets.

Dale Robertson narrowly defeated Mick Rudd to claim B Grade.

A shoot-off was required to decide C Grade as Gezenius Blok claimed the win, with Andrew McKinnon in second.

The Blue Lake Golf Club 25 tgt Double Barrel Championship was the final event to take place.

There were a number of perfect scores when the Gun Club showcased their ability in the final event.

A shoot-off was needed to decide AA Grade, as Barry Sims claimed the win with a perfect score of 35/35, ahead of Willis Jenkins on 34/35.

Mules scored 32/32 to claim the A Grade victory ahead of Ken Atkin.

B Grade was also decided by a shoot-off as Robertson scored 42/42 to defeat Rodney Gilcrist on 41/42.

Brian Case took out C Grade with a score of 25/28, ahead of Blok on 24/28.

The South East Autotrade Highgun award over the three events was won by Darren Beyer with a score of 72/75.
