MILLICENT v CASTERTON SANDFORD

A HOME game against Casterton Sandford looms for Millicent tomorrow and the Saints will carry confidence into the match.

They now occupy the top of the ladder after a solid win over South Gambier last round.

It was an impressive feat for an undermanned Millicent, which had half a dozen players out due to Covid along with a few injuries.

However, the side will be under no illusions when it hosts the Cats, as meetings between the sides have been traditionally hard fought regardless of the difference on the scoreboard.

Back in Round 2 Millicent made short work of the Victorians and finished the day at Island Park with a 68-point triumph.

On that day Josh Werchon and Dylan Bromley were standouts for the Saints and they both carry hot form into the round.

Kalan Shanks has also been impressive – along with Millicent’s entire back six – and the Cats will need to work hard to find avenues into goal.

Ricky Killey was kept quiet by West Gambier last week and he will be eager to bounce back with a bag, while youngster Adam McKinnon has also been reliable in front of goal again this season.

The return of Matt Killey was welcomed against the Roos and he brings some life through the midfield.

However, Millicent has no shortage of talent in all areas of the ground and with the odds stacked against the Cats, the Saints should power to another win in front of a home crowd.
