THE clash at Malseed Park between West Gambier and reigning premier East Gambier was a rollercoaster to say the least.

At quarter time, the Roos were in control with a nine-goal lead.

Returning from her silver medal winning performance in the South Australian 19 and Under side, Sarah Ritter was the dominant force with 15 goals from 19 attempts for the term.

East could not work its way through the Roos’ defence, generating only 10 scoring opportunities and netting seven.

However, you do not win premierships if you are not a resilient group and the Bulldogs responded at both ends of the court in the second term.

The defensive line tightened up, while the frontline started to find better connection and rely on patience to find a way past the West defence.

As a result the margin had been cut to four by half time.

The Bulldogs switched their goalers at the main break and Amryn Bosko moved to goal attack while Sarah Lock went back to shooter.

The come-back continued and with just a two-goal deficit at three-quarter time, the Bulldogs had set up a tense final stanza.

However, the Jekyll and Hyde contest continued to surprise and West took total control in the fourth to win the quarter by 10 goals and secure the win.

Ritter was again unstoppable under the post, while East failed to generate enough scoring opportunities, netting six from nine.

Emily Hunter ran hard all day for the Bulldogs, while Tyne Bosko continued to dominate the competition on the defensive wing.

Ritter was West’s best, while the hard running from Tara Bryant was also critical.
