Mount Burr v Kongorong

Mount Burr has had a tough start to the 2022 Mid South East football season, with losses to Hatherleigh in Round 1 and Glencoe in Round 2.

This week the Mozzies host Kongorong with a chance to turn their fortunes around.

The Hawks are also yet to record a win, with a hard-fought loss to Port MacDonnell in the opening round, followed by a big defeat at the hands of Kalangadoo.

The good news is that loss to the Magpies did show some intent from the Hawks right around the ground.

While Kalangadoo claimed a comfortable victory in the end, it was not without a fight.

It was a similar scenario for Mount Burr, with a strong start to the game until a final-quarter blitz from the Murphies turned the contest on its head.

In the opening round the Mozzies showed some solid early form and jumped Hatherleigh in the first quarter.

From there the Eagles hit their straps but there was plenty of class from Mount Burr early.

With both sides chasing their first victory, there is plenty on the line.

Going on last round’s form by both sides, this promises to be a cracking game.

If Kongorong can use some of the run out of the backline it showed against Kalangadoo and convert on the scoreboard, it could be a tough day for the Mozzies.

However, if Mount Burr can continue its form from last round against Glencoe, the tables will be turned.

Coming off the Easter break, player availability could become a factor for either team and the result could come down to who fields the closest to a full-strength side.

However, the Mozzies will be eager to put their season back on track and may possess the extra class needed to get the job done.

In a tough game to pick, Mount Burr should claim the points and move clear of the Hawks and Nangwarry on the ladder.
