Players honoured at night-of-nights

South Gambier's Alice Tentye was named best Under 21 player at the Limestone Coast Women's Football League senior awards.

The Limestone Coast Women’s Football League Under 16 competition came to a conclusion on the weekend, with Kongorong claiming the premiership honours.

The Hawks faced a tough South Gambier outfit but dominated the game to run out emphatic 44-point victors.

Best on ground for the grand final was Kongorong’s Kate Wright.

It was a fitting end to the inaugural Under 16 competition, which provided the younger players in the senior grade an opportunity to compete against others their own age.

Season presentations were held on Sunday night, with South’s Ella Guest awarded league best and fairest for the Under 16 competition.

Kongorong’s Evie Sealey and South’s Bailey Broome tied for runner-up honours, while Kongorong’s Tahlia von Stanke was leading goal kicker with eight majors.

The Seniors awards followed, with Penola’s Caroline McGrath named best and fairest with 13 votes, just one clear of runner-up, Casterton Sandford’s Scarlett Jarrad.

South’s Alice Tentye was named best Under 21 player, while best back went to Mundulla’s Kaylene Nuske.
