Kalangadoo returned to some more impressive form in Round 2 of Mid South East netball, making short work of its clash against Kongorong.

The reigning premiers started strong, scoring the first three goals of the game in quick succession to put the Hawks on notice.

Emily Lightbody, Lynley Page and Kelsie Widdison worked hard in defence for Kongorong, turning the ball over with some handy intercepts and rebounds.

In attack, Meagan Bowering and Evie Sealey capitalised on the mid-court and defensive team’s efforts, with some impressive circle work and accurate shooting.

In the middle, Riley Buckingham had a tough tussle with the Magpies’ Jayde Peacock, both driving hard with good vision into their respective goalies.

At the first break Kongorong led by one as the Hawks looked to upset what has become the benchmark side in the competition over a long period of time.

However, Kalangadoo came out firing in the second and third quarters with great defensive pressure, making the most of opportunities presented.

For Kongorong Kate Wright, Zara von Stanke and Sam Fox worked tirelessly, combining well to move the ball with precision down the corridors.

The mid-courters also applied tough defensive pressure, allowing Page and Lightbody to alternate between both space and one-on-one contests.

While there were good match ups in every position on the court, the Magpies showed their skill, experience and poise against the younger Hawks side, running out convincing winners in the fourth term.

Best players for Kalangadoo were Lauren Kain and Kori Collins, while Kongorong’s best were Lightbody and Page.
