WOMEN’S football heads to Kongorong this week for two preliminary finals as teams put it all on the line for a grand final berth.

The main event is the A preliminary final between Mundulla and Kybybolite, with the result to determine who will face South Gambier in the season decider in two week’s time.

Mundulla comes off the back of a hard-fought three-point win over Penola in last Sunday’s elimination final, while Kybybolite will be eager to bounce back from its loss to the Demons.

Both teams have plenty of talent and show good ball movement in what should be an entertaining match-up.

Tyler Atkinson put in a best-on-ground performance for Kybybolite last week and will be out to impress again, while the likes of goal-magnet Sophie Henschke will look to have an impact in front of the big sticks.

Ella Jones worked hard all game against South last week and will be out to put the pressure on her Mundulla opponents on Sunday.

For the Moots Casey McElroy led her team well last week, along with Kellsey Hinge and Zoe Hawker.

Kellsey Turner is a focal point in front of goals and will hope to have some support in Mundulla’s attacking 50.

The last meeting between the sides saw Kybybolite on top by five points and another close contest can be expected.

Sundays opening game is the B preliminary final between Kongorong and North Gambier.

The Hawks will have the home-ground advantage and the confidence from a three-point win in their last meeting.

However, the Tigers come off the back of a dominant win against Millicent and will aim to ride that momentum into Sunday’s clash.

Dianne Wilson will be out to back up her best-on-ground performance, while Chloe Perryman was also in fine form.

The pair were strong in front of goals last week with seven and three majors respectively.

Carly Ploenges was the best player for North last time the teams met and she will look for a similar performance, while for Kongorong it will be the likes of Taylor Cozzi, Sarah Lucas and Jade Longbottom who will need to step up again.

The winner of the match will progress to play Casterton Sandford in the B grand final on April 24.
