THERE were some dominant results in the final minor round of the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League season on the weekend.

The largest margin was a 149-1 point win by Kybybolite over Kalangadoo, while Penola defeated Millicent 136-0 and Mundulla toppled North Gambier 86-0.

The closest match was played between Casterton Sandford and South Gambier, as the latter claimed the points 54-18.

Libby Howe-Morgan, Dakota Trotter and both Lauren and Chelsea Frost were among the best for the Demons, while an even showing in front of goals helped them out to their eventual 36-point win.

The Cats were kept to just two behinds until the final change, before they finally found the big sticks in the fourth quarter to add two majors to their score.

However, it was too little, too late and South claimed the win.

Penola hosted Millicent for a dominant 136-point victory over Millicent.

The Eagles wasted no time hitting the scoreboard, with the hard-running Paris Ackland making plenty of ground down the wing.

Angela Broad made an early impact in front of the big sticks and was soon on her way towards a seven-goal haul.

Penola pushed to a 23-0 lead by the first change and looked to be on top of the game.

The Saints struggled to make an impact and despite the hard work of their defence, the Eagles broke the back of their opponent in the second quarter to pile on eight goals and head into half time with a 78-goal lead.

Broad was in fine form and explosive around goal, while captain Caroline McGrath showed her talent in moving the ball forward in a performance which earned her best on ground honours.

The Eagles concluded the match with 18 major scores and 28 behinds, which could have blown out even more was it not for six post-hitting incidents.

Another scoreless performance came from North as it found itself up against Mundulla in round nine.

Casey McElroy was the standout for the victors, while Kellsie Turner and Zoe Hawker led the way on the scoreboard with three and two goals respectively.

Yenna Joyce was named best-on-ground for the Tigers.

The final game of the round saw Kybybolite trump Kalangadoo to the tune of 148 points.

A 63-0 quarter-time score set up the result and from there the Magpies could do nothing to prevent a blowout.

Sophie Henschke banged through 11 goals in a leading performance, while it was Dellie Brown who earned herself the best-on-ground honours.

This weekend the league enters finals with all games scheduled to be played at Island Park.
